LED ABOUT ..

LED is the abbreviation for Light Emitting Diode. A LED that is on for 8 hours a day may keep emitting light as much as 35 years (approximately 100.000 hours) and is an economic source of light that consumes up to 10 times less power than other light sources.

LED Characteristics and Benefits:

- Energy conservation is possible by using 8-10 W LED chains instead of a 75 W traditional bulb.
- It offers designers wide choices and usage patterns.
- It is quick, it starts emitting light within 200 ns.
- Longer useful life: up to 100,000 hours depending on usage pattern and conditions.
- High light productivity.
- Low heat production: while the temperature of filament often reaches 2700°C, LEDs’ chip heat does not exceed 110°C.
- Shock and vibration resistant and does not contain fragile components such as glass or filament etc.
- Environment friendly; it does not contain heavy metals such as mercury or halogen gasses.

LEDs give architects and illumination designers the opportunity to create ideas while providing solutions that apply architectural design beauty in internal and external decorative illumination field.
